A British schoolboy has been rushed to hospital by air ambulance after a freak accident at a shopping centre in Lanzarote . The eight-year-old suffered severe head injuries after falling about 10 feet from a stairwell in the unnamed retail centre in the resort of Playa Blanca. He was stabilised by a doctor from a local health centre at the scene and paramedics before being rushed to the island airport by ambulance because of the nature of his injuries and flown to the neighbouring island of Gran Canaria . He was taken there in a medicalised ambulance and admitted on arrival to a specialist children’s hospital in the capital Las Palmas.
